A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin

This book is amazing. George R.R. Martin is as outstanding writer; everything about this book is so luscious and vivid, I felt as if I was there as every moment unfolded. It’s simultaneously clever and simple, with the collective narratives complementing each other beautifully. The characters are brilliantly written, no matter what feeling you have for them – love, hate, disgust – you are guaranteed to feel something. I don’t think I’ve been this impressed by the beginning of a series since Harry Potter. It’s an amazingly strong start to the series and I’m very excited about reading the rest of the books, those published and those still to come.
